‘Unstable’ (2023) follows a son with social problems who is forced to work for the biological research company of his father, an extremely eccentric and exotic man, to save him from disaster. Available to watch on Netflix!

I cannot stress how much I loved watching this. As the story follows a father and son duo, we actually get a father and son duo as Rob Lowe works across his son John Owen Lowe! As an additional plus, each episode is only about 30 minutes long, which I appreciate. I knocked out the first season in only 4 hours! I love the absurdness of the show, accurate depiction of mental illness, and so many on screen friendships, making the show heartwarming.
I personally felt that it was refreshing to see something different in a tv show as it combines workplace comedy, with witty dialogue, and an unconventional story and plot that keeps you interested the whole way through. Even with the mental health depictions, the show still manages to be effervescent. It is obvious that Rob Lowe has a very strong connection with his son, which makes their on screen conversations flow effortlessly, but both Rob and John Lowe are able to create the same strong connection with every single one of the co-stars. Because of this, there was not one duo conversation more comforting or dynamic than the other, everyone’s conversations were equal which contributed to the wacky, but soothing vibe of the show. Rob Lowe is so captivating to watch play this part, and the quirkiness of the show keeps you interested until the very end, and then wanting more. I cannot wait for season 2 to come out! It also stars: Fred Armisen (star of Big Mouth), Aaron Branch, Emma Ferreira, Sian Clifford (star of Fleabag), and Rachel Marsh.
