Praise This (2023) follows Chloe Bailey, a rebellious girl, as she gets sent to her aunt and uncles home, and after becoming friends with her bubbly cousin, joins her youth choir for a praise competition.

I was pleasantly surprised watching this movie. It was a modern take on today’s praise music and it shed some light on a variety of different environments and atmospheres. I loved their message and I loved the correlation to today’s modern music and being able to fuse the two together, which made it pretty cool in my opinion. I also like the fact that it showed so many different people with many different stories, because everyone is on their own path.
The comedy aspect was more prevalent than in most Christian movies, which was very new and fresh to go with the audience they were aiming towards. They took songs like Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin”, Cardi B’s “Money”, and even Megan Thee Stallions “Savage” and turned it into praise music, which is pretty impressive. In all, it was a very faithful movie, but a new age of faithful which was fun to see on the screen. Chloe Bailey’s (star of Grownish and singer) and Angelika Washington’s (star of Tall Girl) on screen friendship was so compelling to see blossom. Also, the fact that Druski was in the movie was so unexpected, but I loved his part in it because it added some suave and silliness. Even smaller parts like the mean girls or the two women at all the competitions, were still purposeful and added to the movie rather than took away. Lastly, I really enjoyed seeing Quavo in the movie, it added to the star quality of Chloe Bailey, but it also added to the side storyline of Bailey trying to become a singer in the movie. I honestly think it is a warm hearted, easygoing, and fun watch for everyone!
