“M3GAN” (2023) follows an artificial intelligence that is made into a lifelike doll to be a child’s greatest companion. As a woman becomes an unexpected caretaker of her 8 year old niece, she gives her the M3GAN prototype which leads to unimaginable consequences.

When I saw the trailer, I was a bit worried about them tackling the very over-used concept of artificial intelligence turning against humanity. When it comes to a common movie concept, for me personally, something has to be different in order to make an impact on me. M3GAN delivered a distinct topic that hit the mark for me. It was also not too horror, which I appreciated.
There were a few scenes that actually surprised me and made me gasp. The movie as a whole was very gripping, but also whimsical. I am sure most of you all have seen the video of her dancing in the hallway, and that part is something that stuck with me, which I felt was an advantage from the people who made the movie because it created a lot of exposure for the movie, plus it was very camp. I think the 93% of Rotten Tomatoes is well deserved because I feel it is for all audiences with it being PG-13, but still incorporated those profound and intensified moments that make the movie a horror/thriller. I did enjoy Allison Williams’ (star of Get Out) part in this movie especially from her horror repertoire and Violet McGraw did a pretty impressive job in my book notably for her only being 11! I describe M3GAN as a enticing and engaging movie. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy a thriller with a splash of sci-fi and a killer main character.
