What’s going on Triple C readers! Today I will be giving you a review of the new movie ‘CREED III.’ It stars Michael B. Jordan, Jonathan Majors, Tessa Thompson, Canelo Alvarez, Florian Munteanu, Wood Harris, and Mila David-Kent. This movie can be described as gripping, inspiring, and very entertaining. While it has an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, if you need even more convincing read blow! Enjoy! 🙂

Creed III is the third installment in the “Creed” franchise, but the 9th overall film in the “Rocky” film series. The film follows a recently retired and renowned boxer Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) as he comes face to face with his childhood friend and a former boxing prodigy, Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors). My overall rating of the movie would be a 9.7/10. The fact that it is directed by Michael B Jordan adds such a flare to this predictable storyline, but I didn’t mind it because Jordan went about directing it in a way that was completely unexpected. I know a lot of people were disappointed Rocky was not there, but I enjoyed it being without him in the sense of Adonis stepping away from just living in his shadow. Seeing it on the big screen added a sense of intensity and emotion.

The visuals of the movie were impeccable and kept you on the edge of your seat the entire movie. Tessa Thompson, who plays Bianca Creed, was not shown as much as in Creed 2, which I felt had both pros and cons. I think it was good to focus on Damian and Adonis’ rivalry, but I do feel especially with Tessa’s character she could’ve added a bit more of a loving vibe to the movie instead of it being just intense. Majors played his part SO WELL, he really conveyed the arrogance and self-righteousness that is Damian Anderson that makes you not like him in the movie, that is how strong his acting was. I also think a lot of people don’t know that Michael B. Jordan directed it, so it really shows his potential to do other movies as well. The movie is chalked full of symbolism and brilliance. I also think it shows a side to boxing that we don’t usually see. In the media we see boxing and correlate that with anger, hatred, or blood, but Creed shows us this other side that if you step into a ring with professionals there is a mutual form of respect and friendship. The movie also incorporates this storyline of pain and regret from our past, vulnerability, and the power of support and being able to express one’s emotions outside the ring. Creed 3 exemplifies struggles in both the physical state and the mental state, along with an ending I feel everyone would enjoy. I would highly recommend watching if you have the opportunity!
