Last week I released a “Top 10 Movies of 2022” article. This article will focus on 5 movies from 2022 that did not make the top 10, but still deserve an honorable mention. Let me know your opinion about these movies in the comments!

#5. Orphan First Kill (2022) directed by William Brent Bell

A horror drama prequel of the movie Orphan (2009). At first, I was honestly worried about what they would do with the movie to make it different from the first, and it does start off slow, but some plot twists occur which are not only surprising but captivating. From this movie we were not only able to receive an origin story for Esther, but we got a twisty horror thriller with plenty of melodrama. Plus, we see Julia Stiles (10 things I hate about you star), and I have enjoyed all her movies, but it was a treat to see her act in such a completely different setting and genre. Available to watch on Paramount + !

#4. Hocus Pocus 2 (2022) directed by Anne Fletcher

A fantasy family movie sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic Hocus Pocus, where the Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najmy) wreak havoc on the town of Salem after they are released back into the world accidentally. It was so entertaining to see this sequel of Hocus Pocus especially with its reign as one of the classic Halloween Movies on Disney. It kept its core of original cast members and references, which connected it to the original and made it that much more enjoyable as a sequel 30 years later. Available to watch on Disney +!

#3. Look Both Ways (2022) directed by Wanuri Kahiu

A romantic comedy starring Lili Rienhart (Riverdale and Hustlers star). This movie takes our main character into two parallel realities, one of her staying in her hometown becoming a mom and another or her going to LA to pursue her dream career. This was a very warm-hearted film in my opinion, with a gooey center of life lessons, the most important one being wherever you end up in life is where you are supposed to be. It stars Aisha Dee (star of The Bold Type), Luke Wilson (star of Legally Blonde), and Nia Long (star of Boyz n the Hood). Available to watch on Netflix!

#2. Dog (2022) directed by Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin

A comedy drama starring Channing Tatum (Step Up star) as he takes a military dog to his fallen friend’s funeral. It sounds dramatic, I know. But Tatum incorporates this comedy aspect amongst all these emotional scenes which not only makes us fall in love with Tatum and the dog individually, but their bond together within the movie. It is a heartening film that touches on PTSD in not only military soldiers but in military animals as well. Tatum is also briefly accompanied with Kevin Nash, a costar from Magic Mike (2012) and Magic Mike XXL (2015), so it was fun to see them together again. Available to watch on Paramount +!

#1. Bobs Burgers: The Movie (2022) directed by Loren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman

A film adaptation of the adult comedy series ‘Bob’s Burgers’. The Belcher’s family restaurant closes due to an emerging sinkhole that causes the children to try and solve a mystery to save the restaurant. The movie adds in a murder mystery which makes the movie come alive along with the original adult humor that is packed in the series. With this addition, we can see an adventure aspect that is both thrilling and comical to watch, that usually isn’t a part of the regular series. Stars Zach Galifianakis (star of Hangover), Paul Rudd (star of AntMan), and Jordan Peele (star of Key & Peele). Available to watch on Hulu!
