In honor of mother’s day, I have asked my mom for help in today’s post where I will go through her top 10 movies! These are in no particular order! Enjoy 🙂

  1. The Blind Side (2009)

A sports drama based on a true story that follows Michael Oher, a homeless teen who has drifted through the school system for years. Then the Tuohys become Michael’s legal guardians, transforming both his life and theirs. It stars Sandra Bullock (star of Bird Box), Tim McGraw (American country singer), Lily Collins (star of Emily in Paris), and Kathy Bates (star of Misery).

2. Hustle (2022)

A sports drama that follows Adam Sandler, a basketball scout who discovers an extraordinary player abroad, as he brings him back without the team’s approval. Available to watch on Netflix! It also stars Juancho Hernanogomez (Spanish professional basketball player), Anthony Edwards (American rofessional basketball player), Queen Latifah (star of Set It Off), and Heidi Gardner (star of Life of the Party).

3. Heat (1995)

A crime drama that follows a master criminal, Robert De Niro, as he is trying to control the rogue actions of one of his men, while also planning one last big heist before retiring. Meanwhile, Al Pacino, attempts to track down De Niro as he deals with the chaos in his own life. They both discover a mutual respect, even as they try to thwart each other’s plans. It also stars Val Kilmer (star of Top Gun), Ashley Judd (star of Double Jeopardy), Natalie Portman (star of Where the Heart Is), and Danny Trejo (star of Spy Kids).

4. Encanto (2021)

A family comedy that follows The Madrigals who are an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto. The magic of Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift– except Mirabel. However, she soon may be the Madrigals last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger. It stars Stephanie Beatriz (star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine), John Leguizamo (star of Ice Age), Wilmer Valderrama (star of That ’70s Show), and Diane Guerrero (star of Jane the Virgin).

5. Yours, Mine, & Ours (2005)

A comedy family movie that follows Dennis Quaid as he moves his family of 8 children back to his hometown where he encounters Rene Russo, an old flame from high school. Immediately, a marriage is proposed. With Helen having a total of 10 children, bringing both families together result in 18 kids all together. Right away, the children have no intention of playing nicely and decide to sabotage their parents relationship. It also stars Sean Faris (star of Baby Daddy), Danielle Panabaker (star of Sky High), and Miranda Cosgrove (star of ICarly).

6. Goodfellas (1990)

A crime drama that follows a young man that grows up in the mob and works very hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. A drug addiction and a few mistakes ultimately unravel his climb to the top. It stars Ray Liotta (star of Cocaine Bear), Robert De Niro (star of Taxi Driver), Joe Pesci (star of Casino), Paul Sorvino (star of Romeo + Juliet), Lorraine Bracco (star of The Sopranos), and Frank Vincent (star of Casino).

7. The Other Woman (2014)

A romance comedy that follows Cameron Diaz as she begins a relationship with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. A surprise visit to his home reveals that he is married to a devoted housewife, Leslie Mann. Both women team up and direct their hurt and anger toward mark, when they discover a third woman, Kate Upton. Caught in his web of lies, the three join forces for revenge. It also stars Nicki Minaj (Trinidadian rapper), Don Johnson (star of Miami Vice), and Taylor Kinney (star of Chicago Fire) .

8. Hidden Figures (2016)

A drama history movie that tells the story of three brilliant African American women at NASA– Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae). They are the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. It also stars Kevin Costner (star of Yellowstone), Glen Powell (star of Set It Up), Kirsten Dunst (star of Spider-Man) , Jim Parsons (star of The Big Bang Theory), and Mahersala Ali (star of Greenbook).

9. Monte Carlo (2011)

A romance comedy that follows two best friends, Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy, as they head to Paris for a summer adventure, accompanied by Gomez’s stepsister, Leighton Meester. The prepackaged tour fails to meet their expectations, but when Selena Gomez is mistaken for a British socialite named Cordelia, she and her companions head to Monte Carlo to enjoy yacht parties and bachelors–then the real Cordelia arrives. It also stars Pierre Boulanger, Luke Bracey (star of Holidate), and Cory Monteith (star of Glee).

10. Taken (2008)

An action thriller that follows Liam Neeson, a former government operative, as he is trying to reconnect with his daughter. Then sex traffickers abduct his daughter and friend shortly after they arrive in Paris for vacation. With just four days until his daughter will be sold, Neeson must call on every skill he learned in black ops to rescue her. It also stars Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen (star of X-Men), Olivier Rabourdin, and Leland Orser (star of ER).

    I saw a few of the movies you present (the blind side, hustle, goodfellas, hidden figures, taken) and I think they were all great movies. I am really curious about Heat.

    What a great idea for a blog! If I asked my mom her favorite movie, she would say “Gone with the Wind.”
    From your mom’s list, I loved “The Other Woman.”

    I’ve seen The Blind Side, Encanto, and Goodfellas.

    Have you seen A Thousand And One on Peacock? If not, I recommend watching it without reading the description first. I did and it totally blew my mind.
